As per available reports about 1 relevant journal, 27 Conferences, 21 workshops are presently dedicated exclusively to Ayurvedic Medicine and about 86 articles are being published on Ayurvedic Medicine.

Ayurveda or Ayurvedic medicine is a system of traditional medicine with connections to Hinduism, is native to the Indian subcontinent, and is a form of alternative medicine. The oldest known Ayurvedic texts are the SuÅ›rutha Saṃhitā and the Charaka Saṃhitā. These Classical Sanskrit texts are among the foundational and formally compiled works of Ayurveda. By the medieval period, Ayurvedic practitioners developed a number of medicinal preparations and surgical procedures for the treatment of various ailments. Practices that are derived from Ayurvedic medicine are regarded as part of complementary and alternative medicine, and along with Siddha Medicine and Traditional Chinese medicine, forms the basis for systems medicine. Ayurveda is at present well integrated into the Indian National health care system, with state hospitals for Ayurveda established across the country. Lifestyle Medicine, Personalized Medicine Diabetes and Translational Medicine are techniques used to analyze biological markers in the genome and proteome, realizing the value of personalized medicine the individual's genetic code and how their cells express their genes as proteins, by applying molecular biology to medical testing.

Scope and Importance:

In the United States, the practice of Ayurveda is licensed in complimentary heath care. Its concepts about health and disease promote the use of herbal compounds, special diets, and other unique health practices. India’s government and other institutes throughout the world support clinical and laboratory research on Ayurvedic medicine, within the context of the Eastern belief system. But Ayurvedic medicine is not widely studied as part of conventional (Western) medicine. This fact sheet provides a general overview of Ayurvedic medicine and suggests sources for additional information.

Ayurvedic medicine uses a variety of products and practices. Some of these products—which may contain herbs, minerals, or metals—may be harmful, particularly if used improperly or without the direction of a trained practitioner. For example, some herbs can cause side effects or interact with conventional medicines. Also, ingesting some metals, such as lead, can be poisonous. Key concepts of Ayurvedic medicine include universal interconnectedness (among people, their health, and the universe), the body’s constitution (prakriti), and life forces (dosha), which are often compared to the biologic humors of the ancient Greek system.

Market Analysis:

Market analysis would be used, rather than direct examination of the gene, for several reasons: 1. The gene location is known, but the gene sequence has not yet been determined and thus cannot be analyzed directly. But if markers exist close to the gene locus, then the mutant gene can be inferred through marker analysis. 2. Marker analysis is much faster analysis then directs gene sequencing. 3. Marker analysis is much cheaper then gene analysis. Marker analysis can generally be performed for under $200, while a complete screen of a gene can be several thousand dollars.
