Blood vessels

As per available reports about 10 relevant journals 15 Conferences, 48  workshops 29 open access articles are presently dedicated exclusively to Blood Transfusion and about 73 papers are being published on it .

Blood vessels are complicated networks of hollow tubes that can carry blood all the way through the entire body. Blood delivers nutrients to and removes wastes from the cells. Blood vessels are the part of the circulatory system that transports blood all the way through the human body. There are three major types of blood vessels that include the arteries, which transport the blood away from the heart, the capillaries, which allow the actual exchange of water and chemicals between the blood and the tissues and the veins that carry the blood from the capillaries back toward the heart. Types of Blood Vessels include arteries, Veins, Capillaries, Sinusoids. Blood vessels do not actively engage in the transport of blood as they have no appreciable peristalsis, however arteries and veins to a degree can control their inner diameter by contraction of the muscular layer. Blood vessels play a huge role in virtually every medical condition. Cancer, for example, cannot progress unless the tumor causes angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels) to supply the malignant cells metabolic demand. Atherosclerosis,  the formation of lipid lumps (atheromas) in the blood vessel wall, is the most common cardiovascular disease, the main cause of death in the Western world. Blood vessel permeability is increased in inflammation. Damage, due to trauma or spontaneously, may lead to haemorrhage due to mechanical damage to the vessel endothelium. In contrast, occlusion of the blood vessel by atherosclerotic plaque, by an embolised blood clot or a foreign body leads to downstream ischemia  (insufficient blood supply) and possibly necrosis. Vessel occlusion tends to be a positive feedback system; an occluded vessel creates eddies in the normally laminar flow or plug flow blood currents.

Scope & Importance

Physicians who work in hematology laboratories, and most commonly manage them, are pathologists speacialized in the diagnosis of hematological diseases, refered to as hematopathologists. Hematologists and hematopathologists generally work in conjunction to formulate a diagnosis and deliver the most appropriate therapy if neede. According to the United states Brureau of Labor Statistics, there are over 3,400 biomedical engineers working within the medical equipment and supplies industry. This is the highest concentration of the nearly 15,000 emplyoed biomedical engineers in any of the biomedical industries.

Market Analysis

Research & development budgets for researchers related to blood vessel are very high. In US $43 Billion are spent in R&D. There will be an increase of about 30% to 80% on Pharmaceutical industries. There is a forecast that the researches will reach a value of $65.6 billion by 2019.
