As per the available reports 40 Journals,14 Conferences,215 National Symposium and 411 Open access articles has been published by the OMICS Group related to cancer Immunology. Cancer immunology is a branch of immunology that studies interactions between the immune system and cancer cells (also called tumors or malignancies).
Cancer immunology is a growing field of research that aims to discover innovative cancer immunotherapies to treat and retard progression of the disease. The immune response, including the recognition of cancer-specific antigens, is of particular interest in the field as knowledge gained drives the development of targeted therapy (such as new vaccines and antibody therapies) and tumor marker-based diagnostic tests. For instance in 2007, Ohtani published a paper finding tumor infiltrating lymphocytes to be quite significant in human colorectal cancer. The host was given a better chance at survival if the cancer tissue showed infiltration of inflammatory cells, in particular those prompting lymphocytic reactions. The results yielded suggest some extent of anti-tumor immunity is present in colorectal cancers in humans.
The global market for cancer immunotherapies is expected to grow to nearly $67.9 billion by 2018, with a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.7%. North American market, the fastest growing regional segment overall, is growing at a tremendous 15% CAGR.
With rising instances of cancer and improving access to healthcare, North America is far and away the largest segment in the overall market for cancer immunotherapies and is expected to grow to nearly $30.1 billion by 2018.
However, Japan, which was valued at $3.8 billion in 2013, is expected to nearly double in size by 2018 to reach nearly $7.3 billion, registering a 14.1% CAGR.
