Periodontitis

As per available reports about periodontitis 12 Relevant Journals, 1208 Conference Proceedings, 24 Collaborations, 223 National Symposiums,  1273 Open Access Articles are presently dedicated exclusively to dentistry Field.

Periodontitis is a group of conditions. All of them involve inflammation of the gums and other structures that support the teeth. This disease often starts as gingivitis. It is caused by bacteria that attach to the teeth at the gum line and result in an infection. Your body tries to fight the infection. Some of the substances that your body produces can be harmful. They damage the jaw bone and the ligament around the teeth. If this process continues, the teeth become loose. Pockets form between the teeth and gums. These pockets are places where more bacteria grow. If your periodontitis is not treated, your teeth can become loose and even fall out. Periodontitis is not usually painful.Oral health is a state of being free of chronic oral-facial pain conditions, oral and pharyngeal (throat) cancers, oral soft tissue lesions.. Recent advances in Cosmetic dentistry/Aesthetic dentistry, Veterinary, Restorative dentistry encouraged researchers to explore the potential for regenerating functional and living teeth. Sedation dentistry refers to the use of pharmacological agents to calm and relax a patient prior to and during a dental appointment. Oral hygiene : it is the practice of keeping the mouth and teeth clean to prevent dental problems. Recent advances in orthodontics technology make treatment more comfortable.

Scope and Importance:

Periodontitis means "inflammation around the tooth" - it is a serious gum infection that damages the soft tissue and bone that supports the tooth. All periodontal diseases, including periodontitis, are infections which affect the periodontium. The periodontium are the tissues around a tooth, tissues that support the tooth. With periodontitis, the alveolar bone around the teeth is slowly and progressively lost. Microorganisms, such as bacteria, stick to the surface of the tooth and multiply - an overactive immune system reacts with inflammation. Untreated periodontitis will eventually result in tooth loss, and may increase the risk of stroke, heart attack and other health problems. Bacterial plaque, a sticky, colorless membrane that develops over the surface of teeth, is the most common cause of periodontal disease. In dentistry, periodontics deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases involving the gums and structures which support teeth. There are eight dental specialties, of which periodontics is one. In most cases, periodontitis is preventable. It is usually caused by poor dental hygiene. As per available reports about 80 journals, 40 Conferences, 13 workshops are presently dedicated exclusively to periodontology and about 366282 articles are being published on the current trends in periodontology. In terms of research annually, USA, India, Japan, Brazil and Canada are some of the leading countries where maximum studies related to proteomics are being carried out. Periodontology is a sub-classification of dentistry which deals with the study of supporting structure of teeth. It also studies the disease and infections affecting them.

causes of periodontitis: Dental plaque forms on teeth - this is a pale-yellow biofilm that develops naturally on teeth. If is formed by bacteria that try to attach themselves to the tooth's smooth surface. Brushing teeth gets rid of plaque, but it soon builds up; within a day or so. If it is not removed, within two or three days it hardens into tartar. Tartar is much harder to remove than plaque. Another name for tartar is calculus. Getting rid of tartar requires a professional - you cannot do it yourself. Plaque can gradually and progressively damage teeth and surrounding tissue. At first, the patient may develop gingivitis - inflammation of the gum around the base of the teeth. Persistent gingivitis can result in pockets developing between the teeth and gums. These pockets fill up with bacteria. Bacterial toxins and our immune system's response to infection start destroying the bone and connective tissue that hold teeth in place. Eventually the teeth start becoming loose, and can even fall out.

Market Analysis:

The global dental equipment market revenue is expected to increase from USD 6,081.4 million in 2013 to USD 8,453.7 million by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 4.9% from 2014 to 2020. The dental equipment market is fuelled not only by the prevention and treatment of disease, but also in large part by cosmetic dentistry, which sees an annual expenditure of $2.75 billion in the US alone. It is impossible to accurately state what proportion of this is dental expenditure. Interpretation of ‘dental’ varies greatly and in many countries the majority of expenditure is in the private sector and difficult to quantify.
