Science based medicine is the integration of clinical expertise, patient values, and the best research evidence decision making for patient care. Clinical expertise refers to the clinician's collective experience, training, and clinical skills. The patient comes to meeting with his or her own personal and unique concerns, expectations and values. The best evidence is usually found in clinically relevant research that has been conducted using sound methodology. Science based medicine is an approach to practice and teaching that integrates pathophysiological rationale, caregiver experience and patient preferences with valid and current clinical research evidence.

Science Based Medicine is the application of the scientific methods to medicine and it is done by applying new statistical and scientific methods to help build rational decisions for individual patients depends up on the evidence and our existing body of knowledge. Science based medicine mainly focuses on diagnosis and treatment of diseases, diagnostic tests are generally tested verses standard using a specific statistical techniques. The main steps in science based medicine process divided into translation of uncertainty to an answerable question and which includes questioning, study design and evidence levels, systematic retrieval of the best evidence, critical appraisal of evidence for internal validity, application of results in practice and evaluation of performance. Science based medicine attempts to express clinical benefits of tests and treatments by using different tools and mathematical methods. Science based medicine try to objectively evaluate the quality of clinical research by critically assessing techniques which was reported by researchers.
