Fetal health

As per the available reports about 10 Journals, 16 Conferences, 45 National Symposium and 97 open access articles have been published on Fetal Health. A fetus is a developing mammal or other viviparous vertebrate after the embryonic stage and before birth. It is also defined as the unborn young of a vertebrate, after developing to its basic form.

The Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine is a unique division among its peers in the nation. It is one of only a handful of comprehensive maternal and fetal diagnostic and treatment centers in the United States. Care managers at our facility will help you from diagnosis, through pregnancy, to delivery and transfer to Children's Hospital Los Angeles for neonatal care if needed OMICS International has published more than 97 open access articles on the fetal health. 43 National Symposiums were organized by the OMICS group.

Scope & Importance

Integrated Care for most parents with high-risk pregnancies, the anxiety of fearing for the health of their unborn child can be complicated with the task of seeking out separate specialists for the multitude of opinions and care needed. While other centers across the nation bring you one or two specialists, we combine our outstanding networking and collaboration across a multitude of specialties to help you get all of the care that you need through a single center, answering all of your questions and providing answers that benefit from the insights of all of you and your unborn child's care providers. This includes:Maternal-Fetal Medicine (for high-risk pregnancy) Obstetric care (for the unborn child) Pediatric care (for care needed after birth) Our maternal-fetal services cover everything from diagnostic testing to patient care and the numerous subspecialties involved in coordinating care for both patients. The team works closely with you to provide complete care for you and your unborn child.

Approximately 26 million Americans will suffer with a substance abuse problem during their lifetime The incidence of substance abuse among women of reproductive age continues to increase, thus contributing to the growing problem of substance abuse during pregnancy. The highest rates of alcohol and drug use are among women in their childbearing years, with 6 million women experiencing alcohol problems, and more than 5 million currently using illicit substances. Greater than 50% of women aged 18 to 35 years responding to the National Institute on Drug Abuse Household Survey reported that they had used alcohol in the past month, and 5% reporting illicit drug use in the same interval, with marijuana the most frequently used substance.

The incidence of substance abuse during pregnancy ranges from 0.5% to 25% depending on the type of screening method utilized, such as urine drug screens versus self-reports of substance use, and the intensity of the screening program, with inherent biases in those screening only certain subpopulations of pregnant women. The largest population-based survey of 29,000 urine samples at delivery estimated the prevalence of substance abuse during pregnancy as 5.2% and alcohol use as 6.7%. Of the 4 million women who become pregnant each year, at least 20% smoke cigarettes, 19% drink alcohol, 20% use legal drugs, and 10% use illicit drugs during their pregnancy. Thus, substance use is highly prevalent in pregnant women.
