Sapporo is the fourth-largest city in Japan by population and is located in the southwest part of Ishikari Plain and the alluvial fan of the Toyohira River. Many exhibitions, seminars, and other educational activities have been hosted by the Hokkaido Museum of Literature, located in Nakajima Park. There are two art museums in Sapporo the Miyanomori Art Museum and the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art. Many gardens and parks are located in this city. The Chizaki Rose Garden is one of the gardens in Sapporo, provides various kinds of roses, and the Hokkaido University Botanical Gardens has also numerous kinds of plants and historically important buildings.
