Guadalajara, the capital city of the Mexican state of Jalisco, is the second most populous municipality in Mexico and the 10th largest city in Latin America in terms of populace. Named after the Spanish city of Guadalajara (Arabic name: l-ḥijāra-Arriaca, meaning "river/valley of stones"), Guadalajara is a paramount core of schools, universities and educational institutes with global renowance. The significant one is one among the best Mexican Universities, the Universidad de Guadalajara (1791), delegated by the royal fraternity. Guadalajara is also a home to ITESO, a Jesuit University, and has campuses of several private schools, e.g. Campus of the Universidad del Valle de México, as well as houses the oldest private university in Mexico, Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG), established in 1935. Likewise, the city hosts The American School Foundation of Guadalajara (ASFG), the only US-accredited school in Guadalajara too.
