Welcome to Conferences
Cologne is Germany's fourth-largest city and is the largest city both in the German Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia and within the Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Area, one of the major European metropolitan areas with more than ten million inhabitants.
Cologne is located on both sides of the Rhine River. The city's famous Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) was built between 1248 and 1880 and is regarded as a masterwork of medieval architecture. It is one of the finest ecclesiastical edifices in the world.
Also, Cologne is an art and culture metropolis of international renown: 42 museums, such as the Museum Ludwig, which houses the prime pop art collection outside the USA, the new cultural Quarter at Neumarkt and 120 galleries with the widest variety of collections from all eras bear witness to Cologne's reputation as a centre for art and culture. Cologne also has an extremely animated theatre scene.
The weather in Cologne is fairly pleasant throughout the year, being at its warmest during the months of July and August, and coldest between December and January. Much of the region's weather is affected by the strong maritime breezes blowing in from the nearby North Sea and Atlantic Ocean, and from its location in the north-western German lowlands.
Cologne was founded in 38 BC by the Ubii, a Cisrhenian Germanic tribe. In 50 AD, the Romans founded Colonia on the Rhine and the city became the provincial capital of Germania Inferior in 85 AD. They named the city Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium, from which the present-day name derives. Cologne is home to the oldest Ashkenazi Jewish community North of the Alps (documented from the year 321 AD). During the Middle Ages, the Archbishop of Cologne (which still resides in the city today) was one of the seven prince-electors of the Holy Roman Empire. Cologne's Archbishop Rainald of Dassel gave the relics of the Three Wise Men to Cologne's cathedral in 1164 (after they in fact had been captured from Milan), making Cologne a major destination for pilgrimage. Relicts from these times are still found in the city.
The University of Cologne (Universität zu Köln) is one of Europe's oldest (founded 1388) and largest universities.
Cologne benefits from an extensive business structure. The economy of Cologne is primarily based on insurance and media industries, while the city is also an important cultural and research center and home to a number of corporate headquarters. Cologne is home to numerous universities and colleges, and host to some 72,000 students. Its oldest university, the University of Cologne is the largest university in Germany, as the Cologne University of Applied Sciences is the largest university of Applied Sciences in the country. Cologne is one of the most important commercial and manufacturing centers in Germany. Among the principal industries are metalworking and the making of motor vehicles, chemicals, and glass. Some luxury items are also produced.
Cologne is well connected with the rest of Europe by car, by train and by plain:
Cologne's international airport is Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN)
Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN) is located approximately 15km south of Cologne. There are connections to many major German and European cities as well as selected international destinations. Cologne Airport is well connected by public transportation with the city center. For more information see the website of the local public transport company.
Other international airports next to Cologne are Frankfurt (FRA, 60-90 min via fast ICE train) or Düsseldorf (DUS, 30 min via train).
Rail transport-Deutsche Bahn InterCity and ICE-trains.
There are 10 motorways from all directions that run towards the city.
Häfen und Güterverkehr Köln (Ports and Goods traffic Cologne, HGK) is one of the largest operators of inland ports in Germany. Ports include Köln-Deutz, Köln-Godorf, and Köln-Niehl I and II.
Conference Series LLC will join its forces to the organizing committee to do its very best to make your stay in the city fruitful, pleasant and memorable.

I was very impressed by the international scope of participants at the Chicago meeting and the quality of work presented. It speaks very highly of the organizers of this meeting as it is no small task to get medical researchers from around the world to gather at a single site for an exchange of ideas. The accommodations were wonderful and the noontime luncheons delicious. Congratulations on an exceptional conference.Thomas J Sebo Mayo Clinic, USA
