Cartagena is a city lies on the north coast of Colombia in the Caribbean Coast and is the capital of the Bolívar Department. Cartagena located on the Caribbean Sea that is due South of Cuba and Florida and due east of the Panama Canal. The city had a population of 892,545 according to 2005 census. It is the 5th largest city in Colombia and the 2nd largest in the region, after Barranquilla. The basic economy is from petrochemicals industry and maritime, as well as tourism. Basically cartegena encompasses two universities. The University of Cartagena conjointly called Unicartagena and Universidad Tecnologica de Bolívar. The University of Cartagena could be a public, division, integrated, analysis university based mostly primarily within the town of Cartagena, Bolívar, Colombia. The universities are well known for the medical colleges in University of Cartegena and the extensive research in emerging basic sciences. The Cartegena University is a partner of the Association of Colombian Universities (ASCUN), the Iberoamerican Association of Postgraduate Universities (AUIP), and also the State University System. The technological University of Bolivar - UTB- is a bilingual institution, located in Cartagena de Indias. Both are composed by modern equipments; with laboratories, complete factories, and rooms for computational studies, emerging technology and libraries.
