    Dr. Maryse Picher is an Advisor Expert on drug discovery for respiratory diseases. For pharmaceutical companies and institutes, she provides guidance on laboratory protocols and clinical trial design. For investment firms and VCs, Dr. Picher evaluates the scientific soundness of drugs selected for clinical trials. As lead investigator, she generated ~ 2 millions in grant funding, published 75 peer-reviewed publications, and gave 35 invited lectures. Her research led to the identification of a new signaling pathway for airway clearance. Dr. Picher is also Editor-in-Chief of a book on drug discovery for Springer (June 2011: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-94-007-1217-1), on the editorial board of various journals, including International Journal of COPD and ISRN Pulmonology Journal, and author for the therapist website: PutMeBackTogether.com.     Sudhakar Akul Yakkanti is the founder Director of Cell Signaling, Retinal and Tumor Angiogenesis Laboratory at Boys Town National Research Hospital, Associate Professor at Creighton University School of Medicine and University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE, USA. He did his postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA (2003). He has received Ph.D (2001) degrees in Biochemistry from University of Hyderabad, India. He received President’s fellowship (1992), GATE (1996) and CSIR (2007-2000) fellowships from Government of India. He received Mahindra & Mahindra Educational Award (2000) and Young Clinical Scientist Awards from Flight Attendant Medical Research Institute (FAMRI) in 2007 and 2010. He also received Bio-Bio Young Scientist Award from OMICS publishing group; Michael A. O’Connor Young Investigator Award; RO1 grant Award from NIH/NCI and Research Scholar Grant Award from ACS (2010). He is serving as AIBS/NIH-RO1 Grant reviewer for DT study section. He has published about 40 research articles in several top journals including Science, Cancer Cell, JCI, Blood, PNAS, Gastroenterology, Cancer Research, JBC, IOVS, Mol Vision, J Clinical & Experimental ophthalmology, JCST etc. He is serving as an Executive Editor, Editor and Editorial board member of reputed journals and is serving as a reviewer for 20 scientific journals including JCI, Blood, Circulation, Circulation Research, Cancer research, Clinical Cancer research etc. He was honored by giving a position as Keynote Speaker, Chairman, Co-chairman and organizing committee member for several international conferences.     Biography :
    Kanwar is an immunologist and molecular biochemist with an international reputation in investigating fundamental and applied molecular aspects of cancer and chronic inflammation. He did his PhD from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. Before joining Deakin University in 2006, he was a Senior Scientist/Senior Research Fellow in the University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand. During the past decade his research both academic and commercial has centered on understanding the pathophysiological mechanisms and/or finding treatments for a variety of chronic inflammatory diseases and different types of cancer. Kanwar has published 55 research articles, 12 invited reviews and 5 book chapters, in highly ranked, international, peer-reviewed journals. These publications have added to the body of knowledge in the fields of immunology, cancer gene therapy, nanomedicine, cell biology and biotechnology, and have extended these disciplines. He is a key inventor on 9 international patents and has provided consultancy to 5 Biotechnology based companies. He is a member of editorial board for 7 international journals and a nominated member of more than 12 national and international societies including American Society of Nanomedicine. He has extensive and close collaborations with colleagues from New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, India, China and USA.     BIOGRAPHY

Drug discovery for novel anticancer targets for cancer cell survival, death, arrest, and repair. Development of immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory bioactives, proteins and peptides for neuroprotection. Development of complementary alternative medicine from the milk derived proteins including metal binding protein Lactoferrin, and herbal preparation derived active components with a special focus on the treatment of solid tumours colon and breast cancers.     Biography :
    Patrick Leoni is a Professor of Finance at Euromed Management (Marseille, France). He received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, and he held research positions in Zurich, Venice and Dublin. Patrick Leoni\\\\\\\'s research focuses on two distinct issues. The first issue is about beliefs and learning effects on asset pricing, in particular at macro-economic level. The second issue is about designing and pricing new classes of derivatives, with a strong emphasis on health economics. He has been involved in the last few years in projects related to risk management in HIV/AIDS economic policies, and the design of derivatives to hedge against mortality risk. He has penned two books (Economic Challenges in the Fight against HIV/AIDS, and Beliefs, Learning and Economic Behavior), and he has over 20 publications in leading scholastic journals in Finance, Psychology and Mathematics.     Dr. Horacio Pérez-Sánchez graduated in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry from the University of Murcia (Spain) in 1999, where he also obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2006, which consistedin the development and implementation of computational methodologies for the study of macromolecular systems. He performed research in several European Institutions such as the Institute of Structural Biology (CEA, Grenoble, France), where he successfully developed and applied computational methodologies for the prediction and interpretation of macromolecular behaviour in solution, and at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Karlsruhe, Germany), where he developed new methodologies for drug discovery and implemented them in parallel architectures such the Cell Broadband Engine, Graphics Processing Units and Supercomputers. Currently he is full-time researcher at the School of Computer Science of the University of Murcia in the Parallel Computer Architecture Group where he works in several research lines related with the implementation and exploitation of bioinformatics methodologies in parallel architectures. Dr. Pérez-Sánchez has co-authored more than 25 conference and journal papers, book chapters and European patents. He has served as a reviewer for several conferences/journals/book editorials. His primary research interests are in the areas of Bioinformatics, mainly Drug Discovery, and its exploitation in parallel architectures.
