High-temperature superconductors are materials that act as superconductors at unusually high temperatures. The primary high-Tc superconductor was found in 1986 by IBM specialists Georg Bednorz and K. Alex Müller, who were honored the 1987 Nobel Prize in Physics "for their imperative achievement in the disclosure of superconductivity in artistic materials.
