Recommended Conferences for Food Labelling

Food Labelling

As per the available report about 3311 Conference Proceedings, 20 upcoming conferences and 671 National symposiums are presently dedicated for food labeling and also 1125  Open access articles are being published on food labeling.

Labelling a panel found on a package of food which contains a variety of information about the nutritional value of the food item. There are many pieces of information which are standard on most food labels, including serving size, number of calories, grams of fat, included nutrients, and a list of ingredients. This information helps people who are trying to restrict their intake of fat, sodium, sugar, or other ingredients, or those individuals who are trying to get enough of the healthy nutrients such as calcium or Vitamin C. The label provides each item with its approximate percent daily value, generally based on a 2,000 calorie diet.

OMICS International Organizes 1000+ Global Events Every Year across USA, Europe & Asia with support from 1000 more scientific societies and Publishes 700+ Open access journals which contains over 100000 eminent personalities, reputed scientists as editorial board and organizing committee members. The conference series website will provide you list and details about the conference organize worldwide.

Scope and Importance:
By law, most packaged food must be labelled with a nutrition facts table, which gives you information on:
• serving size
• calories
• nutrients
• percent daily values (% DV)

An ingredient list, which lists all the ingredients in a food by weight this begins with the ingredient that weighs the most and ends with the ingredient that weighs the least.
Some packaged food may also have nutrition and health claims. These claims describe the:
• amount of a nutrient in a food, for example:"low sodium"
• positive effects of a food on your health, for example: "A healthy diet rich in a variety of vegetables and fruit may help reduce the risk of some types of cancer.”

Statistics:
Global packaging industry turned over around $485 billion in 2004 with packaging container sales of almost $460 billion and machinery sales of around $25 billion. In 2003, North American markets, including the USA, Canada and Mexico, accounted for the largest share of global packaging at $132 billion (32%), ahead of Western Europe (26%) and Asia (26%). The largest single national packaging market during the same year was the USA with sales of $113 billion. Japan ranked second with sales of $49 billion, ahead of China at $32 billion, Germany at $21 billion and France at $19 billion.

Global Consumer Trends Survey noted that consumers in India and France were most positive about private label with 27% and 23% saying they intended to increase purchases of private label products over the next 12 months. However, private labels are still a little known concept in Russia where as many as 23% never buy private label products. Private label penetration is highest in Switzerland with 37.7% and lowest in China with 4%. Within private label products globally, packaged food accounted for the majority of fast moving consumer goods with 77% of value sales in 2012, but the strongest penetration for private label was found in tissue and hygiene products at almost 14% as products such as toilet tissue and paper towels are easy for retailers to distribute and generate good margins. The private label share within packaged food was at 12%.
