The field of Earth Science and Climate Change is growing rapidly and its development is making tremendous impacts in the arena of Science and technology.

Earth Science-2015 provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working in this field to showcase their achievements. It is expected to attract renowned speakers, principal investigators, experts and researchers from both academia and geosciences industry to join together and discuss their views and research.

This conference will provide a forum for exchange of ideas and authoritative views by leading scientists as well as business leaders and investors in this exciting field. ESCC-2015 provides a global intellectual platform for top notch academics and industry professionals to actively interact and share their groundbreaking research achievements. ESCC-2015 is dedicated to promoting research and development and offers an inter-disciplinary intellectual platform for leading scientists, researchers, academics and industry professionals to actively consult, network and collaborate with their counterparts across the globe.

Why Alicante, Spain?

Alicante is one most important tourist destinations in the Spanish east coast. The many golf courses, along with the tranquil waters of the Mediterranean Sea, are part of the appeal of this beautiful harbour city, which sits at the foot of the Castle of Santa Barbara, a silent witness to the numerous civilisations to have settled here. The historic quarter, at the foot of this fortress, conceals an interesting religious and civil architectural legacy, including the emblematic Explanada de Espana (Spain boulevard), a traditional recreational area to the local residents. Alicante is also a land of deeply-rooted traditions, such as the Moors and Christians festivities and the Night of San Juan. When it comes to Alicante's delicious cuisine, rice takes the central stage, cooked in a million different ways.

Alicante has a Mediterranean climate that features hot summers and mild winters. Alicante is protected by Northern hills and mountains which results in a constant micro climate which also limits the rainfall. It usually has no more than 20 days of rainfall every year. Famous for its excellent weather, the city invites you to take a trip along the coast or to the wonderful island of Tabarca. Along the Alicante harbor you find beautiful long alleys for nice relaxing walks, enjoying the palm trees and the mild climate. Additional to sightseeing, direct from the harbor area, a long wide sandy beach leads its way up to San Juan. Just drop your towel on the sand and enjoy a wonderful day in the sun. During summer time, Alicante with its Airport is a starting point for many Costa Blanca tourists, while during the winter month’s tourists and residents tend to live along the coast in places like Benidorm, Calpe and Denia.

Glance at geosciences:

There are almost 500 societies and 3000 universities around the world for Earth Science. Europe is providing maximum funding for earth science and related field as compared to others. The contribution of geoscience to the overall European-economy amounts to more than €1.300 billion of value added along the value chain with employment for some 30 million people. The production value of domestic mining of raw materials (mainly construction minerals) amounts to €45 billion. Annually 232 million tons of raw materials are imported into the Europe, worth a total of €23 billion. Capital expenditure reduction in line with changed market conditions significant to reduction of expansion capitol from earlier anticipated level of EUR 225 million per year.

Funding for Geosciences Research:

The European Research Council (ERC) that funds junior and senior world-class researchers based in Europe, is keen on promoting fundamental research in all areas, including Earth Sciences. Around 150 projects are currently being funded by the ERC in this field, with a total budget of € 270 million. Whereas some projects clearly fall into the ERC “Universe Sciences” or “Earth system Sciences” panels, others have an interdisciplinary nature, for instance projects looking at the impact of natural hazards on populations and environment. Determined by policy-makers as an ever important field of research that knows no boundaries, Geosciences have acquired a higher visibility across the globe, including the US academic curricula. Many ERC projects in the Geosciences address key societal challenges. The projects presented in this brochure, are investigating the role of organic aerosols in climate change and air pollution, the long-term management of forests in the preservation of the ecosystem, microscopic processes that govern the flow of magma in volcanic eruptions, the development of a new 3 dimensional model of the Earth’s mantle or monitoring of the atmosphere through GPS for predicting tsunamis.
