Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a combination of cognitive and behavior therapies that are directive, time-limited, structured, and place great emphasis on homework exercises. While cognitive therapy emphasizes the role of cognitive processes in the origin and maintenance of psychological disorders, behavior therapy focuses on principles of learning theory and the role of reduced reinforcement in the creation and maintenance of these disorders. Psychotherapy is a form of treatment for emotional and psychological problems where a person talks with a mental health professional such as a psychiatrist, psychologist or counsellor. Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that helps a person to change unhelpful or unhealthy thinking habits, feelings and behaviours. CBT involves the use of practical self-help strategies, which are designed to bring about positive and immediate changes in the person’s quality of life.

According to the definition, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a psychotherapeutic approach that addresses maladaptive behaviors, dysfunctional emotions and cognitive processes and contents through a number of goal-oriented. It has been seen that most therapists working with patients dealing with anxiety and depression use a blend of cognitive and behavioral therapy. However it should be noted that this technique acknowledges that there may be behaviors that cannot be controlled through rational thought.

It has been seen that CBT is effective for the treatment of a variety of conditions which also includes mood, stress, trauma, anxiety, personality, disorder of eating and psychotic disorders. It has been reported that many CBT treatment programs for specific disorders have been evaluated for efficacy.

It should be noted that CBT was primarily developed through an integration of behavior therapy (the term "behavior modification" appears to have been first used by Edward Thorndike) with cognitive psychology research. However mainstream cognitive behavioral therapy assumes that changing maladaptive thinking leads to change in affect and behavior. It has been seen that recent variants emphasize changes in one's relationship to maladaptive thinking rather than changes in thinking itself. It has been seen that therapists or computer-based programs use CBT techniques to help individuals challenge their patterns and beliefs and replace "errors in thinking such as overgeneralizing. This type of errors in thinking is known as cognitive distortions. Technique of cognitive behavior therapy may also be used to help individuals take a more open, mindful, and aware posture toward them so as to diminish their impact. With important similarities among them there are different protocols for delivering cognitive behavioral therapy. It has been often seen that use of the term CBT may refer to different interventions like that of self-instructions, relaxation, development of adaptive coping strategies, changing maladaptive beliefs about pain, and goal setting". Some clinicians and researchers are more behaviorally oriented (e.g. in vivo exposure therapy) while some are cognitively oriented (e.g. cognitive restructuring), while others.

In order to explore new strategies for cognitive behavior therapy OMICS Group is organizing Stress Management Summit at Philadelphia during July 13-15, 2015.epression is ten times more frequent.
