Dental Sealants

As per available reports about Dental Sealants 3 relevant Journals6 Conferences, 1 Collaboration, 2 National Symposiums are presently dedicated exclusively to Dentistry Field.

A Dental Sealant is a protective covering that is applied to the chewing surface of a tooth to prevent the formation of cavities. What sealants do is create a barrier, so that bacteria cannot attack the chewing surfaces of the teeth. These are also called pit and fissure sealants, because they protect the pit and fissures or grooves on the teeth from cavities.

OMICS International Organizes 1000+ Global Events Every Year across USA, Europe & Asia with support from 1000 more Scientific Societies and Publishes 700+ Open access Journals which contains over 100000 eminent personalities, reputed scientists as editorial board and organizing committee members. The conference series website will provide you list and details about the conference organize worldwide.

Scope and Importance:
Dental sealants are plastic coatings that are usually placed on the chewing (occlusal) surface of the permanent back teeth — the molars and premolars — to help protect them from decay. The chewing surfaces of the molar and premolar teeth have grooves — "fissures" — that make them vulnerable to decay. These fissures can be deep, are difficult to clean, and can be narrower than even a single bristle of a toothbrush. Plaquea ccumulates in these areas, and the acid from bacteria in the plaque attacks the enamel and cavities can develop. Fluoride helps prevent decay and helps protect all the surfaces of the teeth, dental sealants provide extra protection for the grooved and pitted areas by providing a smooth surface covering over the fissured area. As compared to smooth surfaces, a tooth's pits and fissures tend to trap debris (dental plaque, food particles, etc...). And when they do, it places them at greater risk for cavity formation. Sealants help to protect teeth from the formation of tooth decay. Applying sealant is a simple and painless process. It takes only a few minutes for your dentist or hygienist to apply the sealant to seal each tooth. The application steps are as follows: First the teeth that are to be sealed are thoroughly cleaned. Each tooth is then dried, and cotton or another absorbent material is put around the tooth to keep it dry. An acid solution is put on the chewing surfaces of the teeth to roughen them up, which helps the sealant bond to the teeth. The teeth are then rinsed and dried. Sealant is then painted onto the tooth enamel, where it bonds directly to the tooth and hardens. Sometimes a special curing light is used to help the sealant harden. Children’s teeth are especially susceptible to the accumulation of plaque, and the development of cavities because of the numerous pits and grooves on the chewing surface. Food debris can accumulate easily in these grooves, and bacteria can soon begin to form. Children aged between 4 and 17 are most at risk for this problem with pits and fissures. Premolars and molars contain the most number of pits and fissures, and can be hard to reach and clean with a toothbrush. The first permanent molars begin to emerge when the child is about 6 years old. Protecting the surfaces of these teeth by placing sealants soon after the teeth erupt protects the teeth from the development of cavities. The second permanent molars begin to show themselves when the child is about 12 years old.

Market Analysis:
The global dental equipment market revenue is expected to increase from USD 6,081.4 million in 2013 to USD 8,453.7 million by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 4.9% from 2014 to 2020. The dental equipment market is fuelled not only by the prevention and treatment of disease, but also in large part by cosmetic dentistry, which sees an annual expenditure of $2.75 billion in the US alone. It is impossible to accurately state what proportion of this is dental expenditure. Interpretation of ‘dental’ varies greatly and in many countries the majority of expenditure is in the private sector and difficult to quantify.
